Orange Lipstick Review

I've been quite excited about wearing my 'Oranges' for a while now, I've really been set in my ways sticking with the purples and reds I had been wearing over the winter season last year. I never really stick to trends but I thought as the weather is getting brighter it'd be nice to crack out the brights from my ever-growing lipstick collection.

The two orange colours I have and hardly ever wear are both from Mac, I have Morange and Vegas Volt. Morange is the brighter of the two and Vegas Volt is more of a corally-peach. It's really nice for if you want a pop of orange colour but nothing too bright. Both colours are super-summery and work really well with all skin tones.

Although I haven't worn either colour for a really long time, the issue for me isn't the colour at all, the shades are perfect! It's the finish. Neither of these colours (both Amplified) give me the finish I want from a lipstick. I find they sit well for an hour or so but after that they just look really tacky and slide around. In complete honesty to achieve the look I wanted I used a lip brush to apply Morange to my lips and then I went over it slightly with the Vegas Volt, I then added a lick of  Cremesheen gloss in Boy Bait so this is possibly the reason the lipstick didn't sit right for me.

For the rest of my look I'd chosen to keep my eyes fresh leaving my Kiko primer on the lids to brighten and then added a medium-sized flick using my black, Sleek gel liner. I didn't add black eyeliner as I wanted my eyes to appear as bright and as open as possible so I added a touch of gold from my Mac Brownluxe Pallet, (sorry I don't know what the shade is called). A swipe of YSL mascara and then used my Extra Dimension Highlighter in Supberb from Mac over the higher part of my cheek bones. I then went over that colour with my pink Illamasqua blusher and brought the pink down to my chubby cheeks, shade Tweak.

All in all it was a pretty simple look which isn't the norm for me, but I loved it and would wear it again.

Happy Tuesday - ASOS Haul

Well it's Tuesday (although I have been asking if it's Wednesday all day) and what better way to celebrate than coming home to a large package from one of my favourite online retailers ASOS! I completely forgot about making this order, seen as how work has turned my brain into a huge pile of mush. I can't believe I finally ordered a pair of Jellies! I saw these a few weeks back and added them to my saved items, I hadn't been checking my account as much as usual so when I went back to have a look at what I could treat myself to, I spotted they had gone down in the sale so I ordered these and some toe rings...a must have with all of the gorgeous 'Barely's' out this season. I managed to nab a further 10% off at the checkout, good times.

My initial reaction taking the lid off the box wasn't 'I love them!' I was actually pretty disappointed because they looked really clumsy sat there in the box and they don't have that typical 'jelly' kind of feel to them, they feel quite matte like a proper leather shoe. I tried them on with black leggings and wasn't too keen. So then I tried them on with light blue jeggings and a beige cami top and I really liked them. Once they are on your feet and worn with the right outfit (mainly the right pants) they look really, quite nice. Still a bit long-looking from the outside but cute non-the-less. I'm not sure I'd have paid full price for them after seeing them in reality and probably would have sent them back if I did, but for sale price I definitely can't grumble and will be packing them for my trip down south next weekend. I had tonnes of these sandals when I was little and LOVED them, I'm definitely going to be recreating some of my outfits from the 90's as I reckon they'd look cute with denim shorts and skaters! I recommend buying these sandals if you are looking for cute, comfort.

Mellow Yellow - Mothers day Outfit

I've been waiting for so long to add some colour to my outfits and I know you don't really need an excuse but I'd become so happy wearing black, I've sort of struggled a little to break out of my new-found and absolutely adored, villain-inspired craze. Until now that is! Mothers day was the perfect opportunity for me to explore with some Grandma-friendly, spring-themed colours.

The top I wore I am absolutely in love with, and guess where from ... GEORGE! Yup. Asda. I don't know what it is about this place that I love...okay I'm lying. I know exactly what it is...for one the sizing is spot on, as a curvier girl I love that most of the time I have to go down a size when buying from George, I mean really it's not about what size you wear, I'd much rather wear something that fits nicely over something that's going to have my muffin top all-a-rising and a-spilling over the top of my jeans like a cake with too much baking powder. Anyway back to the top, it's a lovely material and it fits perfectly. I actually have a similar top in white I bought from River Island for double the price!

My jeans are from New Look, well I say jeans. What I actually mean is jeggings and they are most definitely the closest I'll get to a pair of jeans for now. I'm a leggings kind of girl but there comes a time in every near thirty year olds life when they must accept that in a few years it will be unacceptable to wear leggings as pants. Part of me feels I should have accepted this a long time ago to be honest. I'd originally gone into New Look to find a few pairs of jean-jeans. After trying on a zillion pairs I left the changing room so unhappy, I had nothing. No joy. They were either too big, too tight, too long or too baggy at the knees (huge problem for me.) The fitting room assistant was lovely and she advised me to try a pair of jeggings, I'll admit I was reluctant at first, but I'm glad I gave them a go.

All in all this is a bit of a budget outfit, price isn't an issue for me when shopping but I'll be the first to admit it the cheaper the better! And I am most definitely happy with this outfit.

Top £8, George
Jeggings £15, New Look
Bag £2, Primark
